Monday, 01 June 2009
Addis Ababa, May31 (WIC) - The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange Authority (ECEA) announced that integrated efforts and support of justice bodies is vital to ensure modern commodity exchange and prevent illicit acts committed in commodity trading.

Speaking at an awareness creating forum organized for judges of the federal court, Director General of ECEA, Ambassador Dr. Adissalem Balema said that it is vital to ensure modern commodity exchange and protect illicit activites in the trading of commodities.

Though irregularities in commodity exchange could mostly be managed by the authority and the market itself, creating integration with justice bodies is crucial to effectively prevent illegal trading.

Ambassador Dr. Addisalem also pointed out that the awareness raising workshop is believed to ensure active and effective participation of various actors in the commodity trading activities.    He also indicated that the authority is exerting efforts to create a fair playing ground for buyers and sellers as well as the middlemen in the trading activities.
