Oromia creates 600,000 jobs in 10 months

Adama, May 17 (WIC) – The Oromia state trade, industry and transport bureau said it has created jobs to more than 600,000 unemployed youth over the past 10 months.
Opening a training focusing on the development strategy of micro enterprises yesterday, bureau head, Fekadu Tessema said the jobs created during the reported period were outcomes of the development strategies the government designed by the government to avoid poverty and minimize unemployment. He said the youth were engaged in agriculture, trade, construction, industry, mineral extraction and other development activities. Some 35 per cent of the youth who became self supportive were females. He said the bureau has created jobs to more than 1.1 million youth over the past three years alone. More than 700 people drawn from all zones of the state are attending the 12 day-training. |
