Addis Ababa, April 4 (WIC) – Majority of the political parties contesting in the upcoming local and city council election are using allocated election campaign free airtime, according to the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

NEBE Deputy Public Relations Head, Yisma Jiru, told WIC today that greater number of the 24 parties registered to contest in the election to be held on April 14 and 21 are using the airtime effectively.

He said the parties are using Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency, Addis TV, TV Oromia, Fana Broadcasting Corporate, Addis Ababa Mass Media Agency, South Radio and various newspapers to promote their agenda.

Yisma finally called on some parties that are not using the airtime to employ the chance as it ends on April 12, 2013.
According to Yisma, election documents and materials needed for the election were distributed last week.
