Dire Dawa, October 30 (WIC) –Mayor of the Dire Dawa city stressed the need to toughen development and democratic values that would serve as an input for the honor of the national flag.

Mayor of the city, Seid Ziad, was speaking here yesterday at the colorfully celebration of the 5th National Flag Day held at the city’s stadium in the presence of dwellers, members of the national defense and police forces, among others.

“Our development and democratic values would serve as an input for the respect of our flag if the public and the government have common understanding on them,” he told the crowd in the stadium.

Accordingly, both stakeholders (government and public) need to join hands so as to boost the number and quality of the values, Seid pointed out.

The mayor finally urged the existing generation to renew its commitment to bring the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi’s vision real.

Flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by Deputy Speaker of the Dire Dawa City Council, Abdela Ahmed.
