Addiabun-Shire asphalt road opened for traffic

Addis Ababa, July 21 (WIC) -The 92km Addiabun-Shire asphalt road constructed at a cost of over 655 million Birr opened for traffic, the Ethiopian Roads Authority said.
Authority Communication Director, Samson Wondimu told ENA that the road traverses Adawa, Axum and Shire towns of Tigray State.

He said the route would alleviate transport problem and creates access to market and tourist destinations.

Accordingly, the road has helped trim down the travel time between the three towns from eight to two hours. He said Government covered the construction of the road which is the part of the third Road Sector Development Program implemented earlier.

The Growth and Transformation Plan has prioritized construction of roads to accelerate the over all development.
