Ethiopia to face Sudan in Cecafa qtr final
Addis Ababa, 6 December 2013 (WIC) – The Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia will face Sudan in the quarter-final of this year’s GOtv Cecafa Cup.
A coin toss determined Ethiopia’s next opponent after finishing Group A with identical points and goal differences with Kenya. Both teams finished the group stage with 7 points and a goal difference of +2.
Kenya won the toss to top Group A and now plays Rwanda, who earned their place in the quarters as the second best third placed team, on Saturday.
Ethiopia’s quarter final opponent Sudan finished second from Group C as Uganda comes out on top with nine points. Uganda beat Sudan 1-0 in their final group game. Uganda now meets Tanzania in the quarter finals with the match taking place in Mombasa on Saturday.
Guests Zambia who finished top of group B with seven points play Burundi, who like Rwanda earned their slot as best losers, on Sunday.
Ethiopia defeated Sudan to qualify for this year’s African Cup of Nations that took place in South Africa.
