Ethiopia’s feasible grand effort to lasting peace!
Various media revealed that over 1,000 people have been killed and more than 500,000 affected since the break out of the conflict between Sudanese President Salva Kiir and his sacked Vice President Dr. Riek Machar forces.
According to these reports, at least 300 children were separated from their families in the province of Jonglei alone. "Children have seen their parents being killed and had also witnessed other horrific acts — houses being looted, bullets being shot through windows, houses being burned," Emergency worker Helen Mould told cbc.ca. Mould emphasized an immediate cessation of hostilities.
Recognizant of this problem, Ethiopia has engaged in bringing those conflicting groups to dialogue. The country has been exerting its efforts towards ensuring lasting peace and stability in Africa in general and the Horn Region in particular.
Its unreserved sacrifice and crucial contribution aiming to bring an enduring peace in different countries in Africa is so appreciable.
The extended tremendous effort to ensure peace and stability to the people in the continent has a grand contribution in paving ways to make the continent convenient place to its citizens.
Previously, the country has made remarkable contributions to bring peace and stability in Somalia, the two Sudanese, Liberia, Rwanda and other African countries. Besides, it has been playing significant role in fighting terrorism in collaboration with the international community and peace loving states.
The Ethiopian government along with other IGAD member states has now attempting to settle the escalated problem in South Sudan. This effort is, of course, a sequel to its firm belief and efforts to ensure an enduring peace and stability in the region.
Due to the serious attention Ethiopia gave to the situation in South Sudan, Ambassador Syoum Mesfin together with General Lazarus Sumbeiywo of Kenya is assigned mediate the conflicting groups.
This effort is really a sequel of what Ethiopia has been doing to realize lasting peace in the region in particular and the continent in general, which has remained so crucial to the people in the region.
The determination of the country to bring peaceful solution to the escalated conflict in Africa has emanated from its need to see well developed and prosperous Africa.
