Ethio-Djibouti Border Administrators meeting concluded (Dec 19, 2013)
Addis Ababa, December 20 (WIC) - A two-day meeting of border Administrators meeting of Ethiopia and Djibouti which was held in Semera town, the capital of Afar National Regional State ended on December 18, 2013.
The meeting discussed various issues including illicit border trade and human trafficking. The two sides agreed to strengthen efforts in combating contraband trade and illegal trafficking of people.
Getachew Hailegiorgis , Head of Immigration and Citizenship Department of National Information and Intelligence Service said the meeting also agreed to forge mechanisms to support customary dispute settlement mechanisms in order to resolve sporadic cross-border disputes.
The meeting also discussed ways to start public transport system connecting the people straddling the borders of the two countries. (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
