Chairperson condemns abuses, massive violations of human rights in CAR
Addis Ababa, 10 December 2013 (WIC) - The African Union Commission Chairperson Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma reiterated the strong condemnation by the AU of the abuses and other massive violations of human rights that continue to be committed against the civilian populations in Central African Republic (CAR), AU said.
A press release AU posted on its website said the Chairperson stressed the urgent need to do everything necessary to bring this unacceptable situation to an end.
She encouraged the Peace Consolidation Mission of the Economic Community of Central African States in the CAR (MICOPAX), which will transit into the African-led International Support Mission in the CAR (MISCA) to intensify its efforts in a bid to contribute to the speedy restoration of order.
According to ENA, she appealed to the French forces deployed in the CAR to extend all the necessary support to MICOPAX, the release said.
