Ambassador Berhane meets Germany’s Parliamentary Secretary of State

Addis Ababa, 5 September 2014 (WIC) - State Minister, Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos and Germany’s Parliamentary Secretary of State, Thomas Silberhorn on Thursday (September 4) discussed ways to boost bilateral relations in a number of areas, including technical and engineering sectors as well as in economic and trade relations.
They reviewed cooperation over the last half century and agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral relations. Ambassador Berhane said Ethiopia greatly appreciated the strong relations the two countries enjoyed, and the significant role Germany is playing in EU fora.

He explained Ethiopia’s developments in infrastructure, health, education and other sectors, and emphasized Ethiopia’s interest in working closely with Germany in engineering and technical areas.
Silberhorn said he and his delegation had witnessed the substantial progress that Ethiopia had made in various sectors.

He said he welcomed the fact that Germany was sharing experiences and knowhow with Ethiopia in agriculture and rural development, technical and financial support, education and bio-diversity as well as in economic and trade relations and in the country’s democratization efforts.

During the meeting agreement was reached for Ethiopia and Germany to continue to work together in infrastructure, engineering and technical cooperation, investment and trade relations, democratization and refugee re-establishment, bio diversity and other areas. (MoFA)
