Companies donate electrical equipment to support GERD
Addis Ababa, 4 September 2014 (WIC) - Six private companies donate electrical equipment worth over 625,000 birr to be used for fund-raising through lottery draw to support the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Office of the National Council for Public Participation and Coordination for the Construction of GERD Media and Communication Directorate Director Fekadu Ketema acknowledged the contribution. He also called on other companies to do the same until the Dam is complete.
Recognizing that the materials donated by the companies would be readied for SMS lottery winners, Fekadu said that the Office would mobilize the public to sustain their participation through SMS lottery method. It has also prepared various prizes to lottery winner, among others, vehicles worth one million Birr each and 92 square meters condominium house.
The company owners said that the Dam is not a onetime business rather matter of long term and continuous commitment. The donation never stops here, instead it needs a consistent effort of the business community at large to accelerate the national development.
Alta, Snap, Haron computer respectively donated 287,000, 275,000 and 160,000 birr and Waryt also donated 136,000 worth 24 water purifying electronic and Glorious Private Limited Company has also presented 90,000 Birr worth three refrigerators. (EH)
