Preparations made to ward off Ebola: Deputy PM

Addis Ababa, 3 September 2014 (WIC) - Wide-ranging activities have been undertaken to protect the nation against Ebola, says Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen.

After visiting an Ebola treatment centre around Kotebe area of Addis Ababa, the Deputy PM said the government has put in place a dependable preventive mechanism to defend against the disease.

And in designing this preventive mechanism, the government took into account the experiences of the nations where the Ebola outbreak has occurred, he said.

The National Committee to Prevent and Control Ebola is working to make sure everything is in order.

According to Demeke, No Ebola detected so far in Ethiopia.

Health Minister Dr. Keseteberhan Admasu for his part said preparations have been finalized in case of an outbreak of the disease. (EBC)
