Ethiopian News Agency Re-established

Addis Ababa, 18  August  2014  (WIC) - The Council of Ministers’ today approved the bill providing for the re-establishment of the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), which was incorporated under the then Ministry of Information in 1999 E.C, with the decision of the parliament.

The re-establishment of the Agency is expected to strengthen the Agency's efforts towards building consensus on national agendas and image of the country.

The re-establishment will enable the Agency strengthen capacity, increase accessibility and benefit the public.

ENA, whose inception goes back to 1942 during the Imperial government was incorporated by the then Ministry of Information and later by the Government Affairs Office.

The Council has also approved four draft bills including a draft bill providing for the establishment of the Gambela University, according to a release issued by the Council. (ENA)
