Amb Berhane holds talks with new German Ambassador

Addis Ababa, 24 July 2014 (WIC) - State Minister Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos received copies of credentials of newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ethiopia, Ambassador Joachim Schmidt on Wednesday. The State Minister welcomed the new ambassador.

He noted Ethiopia and Germany had excellent and long-standing socio-economic and political relations.

Germany, he added, is a good partner and friend of Ethiopia. Ambassador Berhane welcomed Germany’s greater role in capacity building and support for regional peace and stability and said it had recently taken a commendable decision to support Ethiopia’s green growth development strategy.

Ambassador Berhane said Ethiopia and Germany should work effectively together to share best experiences, technology and knowledge transfer in such areas as trade, investment and tourism.

Ambassador Schmidt pledged his commitment to work to boost Ethio-Germany relations and raise them to the same high level in all socio-economic and political areas.

He also appreciated the economic development that Ethiopia has witnessed in recent years. (MoFA)
