4th Ethio-Canada bilateral consultative forum held in Addis

Addis Ababa, 20 June 2014 (WIC) - The official diplomatic relations of Ethiopia and Canada date back to the mid 1960s. The relations have mainly been based on cooperation and support for development.
However, the cooperation was limited to 8 million USD till 2003. But presently, it has reached over a 100 million USD.

According to ERTA, the report came up during the 4th Ethio-Canada bilateral consultative forum held on Thursday in Addis Ababa.
Canada has been supporting Ethiopia’s effort in food security, education and agriculture to realize the Growth and Transformation Plan of the nation. And it is determined to boost support for Ethiopia.

American Affairs Director General with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atskeselassie talks about his government’s position regarding its bilateral and diplomatic relationship with Canada.
“We are keen to bolster and sustain our bond with Canada because we want the connection to be fruitful. And we believe that the bilateral and political consultation will buttress their relations,” he said.
Canadian Ambassador to Ethiopia, David Usher for his part said that his government is dedicated to boost cooperation with Ethiopia.
