Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse presents her credentials to the King of Norway

Addis Ababa, 14 May 2014 (WIC) - The newly appointed Ambassador of Ethiopia to Sweden and other Nordic Countries, Ambassador Woinshet Tadesse, presented her credentials to the King of Norway, H.M Herald V, on Thursday (May 8, 2014).

During the ceremony, Ambassador Woinshet recalled the long standing diplomatic relations between the two countries and commended Norwegian development cooperation in Ethiopia in the areas of health, climate change and forest, democracy and human rights.
According to a press release Ethiopian Embassy in Norway sent to WIC, Sshe briefed His Majesty about the double digit economic growth of Ethiopia, the achievements on Millennium Development Goals, the conducive investment environment in the country and the role of Ethiopia in promoting peace and stability in the Horn of Africa. She applauded Norway's support to bring peace and stability in South Sudan.

King Harold congratulated Ambassador Woinshet on her appointment and underlined the long relationship between the two countries. He acknowledged the economic growth of Ethiopia and recommended it to work more on irrigation to help resolve the effects of due to climate variation and the occurrence of unexpected weather conditions.

During her stay in Norway, Ambassador Woinshet held discussions with a number of Norwegian officials and business organizations including the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Director General for Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, as well as representatives of the Norwegian African Business Association, Norfund, the Oslo Chamber of Commerce and the CEO of Yara International.
