First Lady, Chinese premier's wife visit Addis Ababa University

Addis Ababa, 6 May 2014 (WIC) - Chinese premier's wife Cheng Hong and First Lady Roman Tesfaye visited the Addis Ababa University (AAU) on Monday.

The first ladies visited the AAU museum and John F. Kennedy library as well as students attending Chinese language class.   

Cheng Hong said this is her first visit to Ethiopia and Africa. She added that Ethiopia and China have rich cultural heritages.    She donated to the Addis Ababa University computer and digital cameras.   

Ethiopia’s First Lady Roman Tesfaye on her part said the visit demonstrates the strengthening of the ever growing relationship of the two countries. She further stated that the visit will also help bolster the economic, social and cultural ties between Ethiopia and China.   

Addis Ababa University is the first and only institution of higher learning in Ethiopia that offers Chinese language regularly, according to the president of the university, Dr. Admassu Tsegaye.   

Their visit was accompanied by Chinese traditional music and martial arts. (ENA)
