100th anniversary celebration vital to promote dev’t achievements
Gambella, 23 April 2014 (WIC) –The 100th centennial celebration of Gambella town would help promote the town’s history and development gains, Chief of Gambell Regional State said.
Gambella town will be celebrating its Centennial from April 28 -30, 2014.
At a press conference he gave to journalists here recently, Chief Administrator of Gambella Regional State, Gatluak Tut, said the celebration is vital to sensitize the public on good governance and development achievements.
The celebration of the centennial of the town would also help to attract more investors to the state
Founded 100 years back at the Baro river side, the Gambella town has managed to register tangible changes in all sectors after May 28 victory which marks the downfall of the Derg regime, he said.
He said residents of the regional state have become beneficiaries of various socio-economic sectors and infrastructural facilities built after the demises of the dictatorial regime.
In a related development, the Gambella Regional State Security and Administration Bureau said preparation have been made to celebrate the anniversary without any security problem.
Bureau Head, Ubong Umod, said committee was formed for the peaceful celebration of the centennial of the town.
Gambella Regaional State Police Commissioner, Pole Tut, on his part said that military parade will be staged at the celebration.
Higher government officials from the federal and regional governments as well as residents of the town are expected to attain the anniversary.
