Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization (OPDO) 24th Anniversary colorfully celebrated in Stockholm/Sweden for the first time

Addis Ababa, 14 April 2014 (WIC) -  Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization (OPDO) 24th founding anniversary was colorfully celebrated on April 11/2014 in Stockholm/Sweden.

According to a press release Ethiopian Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden sent to WIC, the OPDO anniversary was celebrated for first time in Stockholm.

Members and supporters of OPDO, members of the EPRDF, Ethiopians in Diaspora and stuff of the Ethiopian Embassy were attending the occasion, according to the press relaes.

The occasion was started with a minute's silence in tribute of the late OPDO Chairman and Oromia Regional State President H.E Mr. Alemayehu Atomsa and other martyrs. During the celebration, the OPDO Central Committee press release for 24th anniversary was read by Mr. Fantaye Roba, member of OPDO in Stockholm.

The honorable guest of the occasion, Her Excellency Mrs. Woinshet Tadesse, Ambassador Extra Ordinary and plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Sweden and other Nordic Countries, addressed the attendees of the anniversary, WIC learnt.

On her speech, Ambassador Woinshet pointed out the straggle and scarification of the Oromo people paid for the liberation against those undemocratic and dictatorial regimes in the past and role of OPDO's leadership during the straggle.

She appreciated the remarkable leadership role played by OPDO in achieving the GTP in the region and its significant contribution at national level.

Ambassador Woinshet called all the participants to continue their support for the construction of the GERD.
