Artists urged to contribute share for realization of GRD

Addis Ababa, 20 March 2014 (WIC) –A lot is expected from artists in acquainting the international community and riparian countries with the benefit of the Grand Renaissance Dam, according to Government Communication Affairs Office.
Office Minister, Redwan Hussien, made the remark yesterday while opening an art exhibition prepared in connection with 3rd year commencement of the dam’s construction.
“Artists have a key role towards sensitizing the public on the advantage of the 6,000-megawatt hydropower dam,” he said. 
According to Redwan, art has irreplaceable role towards expediting the socio-economic growth of a country, nurturing developmental mentality and inspiring the public for development.
He finally called on artists to discharge their national duty by being ambassador of their country in the public diplomacy sector.

Deputy Director General of Office of National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation on the construction of the Grad Renaissance Dam, Zadig Abrha, on his part said the marking of the day comes when the construction of the dam reached at a decisive stage.
The over 65 veteran and young artists who are taking part at the exhibition have vowed to contribute their share in the efforts to realize the construction of the dam.
The exhibition will be open for the public until March 25, 2014.
