Kenyan President visited ELICO PLC

Addis Ababa, 13 March 2014 (WIC) - Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Kenya, visited ELICO PLC on Mar 11th, 2014. At the end of his visit Mr. Kentatta expressed his amazement on the quality of products being produced at ELICO. Mr. Kenyatta also noted “I’m certain Kenya will be the customer in the new future.”

ELICO PLC is owned by the philanthropist Dr. Sheikh Mohammed Alamudin. When Sheikh Mohammed bought the company from the privatization agency, ELICO was on the verge of bankruptcy. After reinvesting more than 200,000,000 birr on new machineries, the company became the leader in its sector.

Over 90% of the company’s output goes out for export. The gloves made out of ELICO products are being wear by the likes of the celebrity golf player: Tiger Woods.

Ugandan president in Ethiopia for regional summit on South Sudan

Addis Ababa, 13 March 2014 (WIC) -- Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday traveled to the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa for a regional summit to discuss the South Sudan crisis.

A State House statement issued here said Museveni is attending the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development meeting that is expected to iron out the obstacles in the ongoing peace process between the South Sudan government and rebel leader Riek Machar.

According to the statement, the meeting scheduled to start on Thursday will also discuss details of the proposed stabilization and protection force to be deployed in South Sudan. (
