Foreign Minister holds talks with Sri Lankan senior official

Addis Ababa, 4 March 2014 (WIC) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Tedros Adhanom and Sri Lankan Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Sarath Amunugama held talks here yesterday.
Dr. Tedros said that Ethiopia is keen to strengthen its relations with Sri Lanka in the areas of textile, investment and tourism.
Indicating that Ethiopia has huge potential and opportunities for investment, Dr.Tedros told the Senior Minister that the country would be providing all the necessary support to encourage Sri Lankan investors.
Dr. Sarath told journalists on his part that Sri Lanka is keen to bolster its ties with East African countries particularly with Ethiopia. “Ethiopia and Sri Lanka have shared economic development agendas and hence, we are desirous of further strengthening our bilateral relations with Ethiopia,” he added.
Dr. Sarath also stated that his country is committed to boost its ties with Ethiopia in the areas of textile, hotel and tourism as well as power and investment sectors.
According to the Minister, Sri Lankan businessmen are engaged in investment activities here as the country enjoys strong relations with Ethiopia.
