Foreign Affairs Minister visits Juba

Addis Ababa, 1 March 2014 (WIC) - Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom has visited South Sudan’s capital Juba on Tuesday (February 25), meeting President Salva Kiir and other senior officials of the South Sudan Government.
Dr. Tedros delivered a message from Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, the current chair of IGAD, to President Salva Kiir.
Dr. Tedros’ visit was part of IGAD’s efforts to bring about a negotiated peaceful resolution to the conflict in South Sudan.
The Minister said that his talks with President Kiir focused on continuing the peace process and ensuring that the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed at the end of the first round of the negotiation remains respected and should be implemented fully as soon as possible.
