OPDO elects Muktar Kedir party chairman

Addis Ababa, 27 February 2014 (WIC) – The Oromo Peoples’ Democratic Organization (OPDO) has elected Muktar Kedir, Civil Service Minister, as chairman of the party.


The party also elected Aster Mamo, who was head of secretariat of OPDO Central Committee, as deputy chairperson of the party during an extraordinary session.


Muktar, who is Good Governance Reform Cluster Coordinator with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, is elected following the resignation of Alemayehu Atomsa, chief administrator of Oromia Regional State.


Prior to his elevation to the helm of OPDO, Muktar was serving as deputy chairman of the party.
