Authority collects over 53 bln birr in revenue

Addis Ababa, 6 February 2014 (WIC) – The Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (ERCA) said it has collected over 53.3 billion birr in revenue in the first half of this budget year.

Authority Education and Communication Directorate Director, Epherem Mekonnen, told WIC that the stated sum of revenue was raked from taxes, nontax income titles and national lottery.

The authority planned to collect over 60. 6 billion birr in the reported period but managed to collected over 53.3 billion, thus attaining 87.94 percent of its target.

However, the revenue collected in the first half of this budget year surpassed that of the same period the previous year by more than 9. 6 billion birr or by 22.02 per cent, he said.

The authority has set a plan to collect 116.8 billion birr this budget year, it was learnt.
