Addis Ababa, 1 February 2014 (WIC) - The Addis Ababa City Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) pilot project feasibility study is nearing completion; Ethiopian Press Agency reported citing the City Roads and Transport Bureau.

“We are very much dedicated for the full operation of the Bus Rapid Transit Project as soon as possible.” Bureau Deputy Head Tibletse Asegidom said at a relevant workshop held yesterday in Addis Ababa.

“To achieve this plan, we are working to establish a new Bus Rapid Transit Company which would be run either based on public-private partnership or fully public owned," she added.

The bureau is working to make the project feasible within three years time, according to Tibletse.

“We are about to finalize the 8-kms Gofa Gabriel-Merkato Bus Terminal BRT pilot project feasibility and operational study. This corridor is selected because of the existence of high number of passengers", Tibletse said.
