Ethiopian Orthodox Christians colorfully celebrate Timket

Addis Ababa, 19 January 2014 (WIC) – Ethiopian Orthodox Christians across the country colorfully celebrated Epiphany/Timket; the ritual of reliving the actual baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River.

The ritual is attended by believers, diplomats and tourists.

In his addressing speech, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church, his holiness Abune Matias urged followers to contribute their shares to national development.

Abune Matias also said that the aged culture of peaceful coexistence among believers of various religions should be maintained.
