Public Enthusiasm on GERD Growing Unabated: Communications Affairs Office
Addis Ababa, 29 March 2014 (WIC) - The public is showing enthusiasm and broad participation for the success of the building of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), the Ethiopian Government Communications Affairs Office announced.
The dam has been constructed in line with the foreign relations and security policy of the country which is based on the principles of mutual benefit.
In a statement issued in connection with the third year of the laying of the founding stone of GERD, the Office said the participation of citizens for the building of the dam has been growing. A third of the construction is reportedly completed.
The government, which had full confidence in the enthusiasm and broad participation of the peoples from the outset, is working nonstop to complete the construction, according to the statement.
The effort and determination of the youth to create wealthy Ethiopia by involving themselves fully in the endeavor can in itself be given special meaning, it explained.
The bad image attached to the country which has been humiliating Ethiopians and foreigners of Ethiopian origin is also being transformed under everyone’s eyes as we are on the verge of a new era, the statement noted.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is on the one hand a result of national capacities and a demonstration that Ethiopian nations, nationalities and peoples can tackle any challenge on the other. GERD is a permanent monument of the upcoming bright future, it concluded. (ENA)
