AAU, METEC sign MoA for GERD consultancy services

Addis Ababa, 21 February 2014 (WIC) – A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between Addis Ababa University Institute of Technology and Metal and Engineering Corporation (METEC) for the consultancy services on Electro-mechanical, Hydro-mechanical and Interface with Civil Works and other aspects of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).  
Brigadier General Tena Hunda, Deputy Director General of METEC and Dr Admasu Tsegaye, President of Addis Ababa University signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization in the presence of Communication and Information Technology Minister with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Debretsion Gebremichael.
Dr. Debretsion on the occasion said the agreement is part of the efforts to effectively exploit local knowledge and broaden linkage between local academic and research institutions.
President of Addis Ababa University, Dr Admasu Tsegaye, on his part said the agreement would help the university to play its role in the development activities of the country.    
Brigadier General Tena said the participation of the university in the consultancy service of the dam will boost the participation of Ethiopians in the project.     
He further called upon all universities to follow AAU’s footstep in taking part in mega projects of the country.
