Addis Ababa, 6 January 2014 (WIC) – Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Abadula Gemeda said Ethiopia can learn how to defeat poverty shortly from South Korea.

In an exclusive with WIC recently, Abadula said South Korea, which had been at extreme poverty 50 years ago, has now become one of world’s most powerful economies.

Korea's focus on small and micro enterprises and the saving culture of the people are some of the reasons why its economy grew rapidly, the Speaker indicated.

The people of Korea have a good culture of giving priority to goods produced locally and promoting it globally, which according to him also played a significant role for the economic advancement of the country.

Accordingly, Ethiopians can learn a lot from these Korean experiences, he said.
