Ethiopians in Perth formed GERD Bond Council
Addis Ababa, 1 January 2013 (WIC) - The Ethiopian Embassy in Australia organized a meeting with Ethiopian Community members in Perth, in collaboration with the Ethiopian Somali, Tigray and Amhara community members.
On the occasion, the Chairpersons of the communities appreciated the decision of the Ethiopian government to open an Embassy in Canberra responding to their long-time request and pledged that they will be working hand-in-hand with the Embassy.
During this meeting Ambassador Arega Hailu made a speech about the Embassies’ plan and goals it expects to achieve.
He explained Ethiopia's achievements over the last 22 years, especially over the last 13 years in agriculture, industry, infrastructure building, education and health.
Ambassador Arega also discussed the current performance of Growth and Transformation plan and the performance.
In addition, he explained to the community members Ethiopia's contribution to regional peace and security and its growing role in continental and international politics.
The communities vowed to take part in the development of the country. As part of the efforts to take part in the development of their country, members of the community formed a bond council to for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). (MoFA)
