EPRDF Executive Committee holds regular meeting
Addis Ababa, 14 December 2013 (WIC) – The Executive Committee of the Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) held its regular meeting on Saturday, December 14, 2013.
The Committee evaluated the education sector and export trade performance as well as deliberated on working procedure that EPRDF use to assign leaderships. It also passed various decisions and put future directions.
After evaluating agricultural, horticulture, manufacturing and mineral products export performance as encouraging, it put directions that help to diversify export products, improve performance and attain the goals set in the GTP.
The Committee evaluated the activities being made to improve access to education and maintain its quality as successful.
The Education Quality Improvement Package implemented to improve education quality has been improving students’ success and their performance in science and technology subjects as well as in job creation, it said.
It further put directions that enable to strengthen the successes gained so far and mechanisms to reduce school dropout rates and number of students who repeat a grade in primary schools.
The Committee further underscored the need to further consolidate the ongoing alternative adult education program as it is bearing encouraging results.
The Committee approved the document prepared to put in place a system that enables leaderships at all levels effectively discharge their responsibilities and attain the reform program.
According to a statement EPRDF Council Secretariat sent to WIC today, the Executive Committee also deliberated on various agendas.
