People of Somali region are proud of being Ethiopian: Premier
Addis Ababa, 4 December 2013 (WIC) - Jijiga town of the Somali regional state has finalized preparations to host the Ethiopian Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day celebrations.
In an interview regarding the celebrations, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn said over the past years Ethiopian nations, nationalities and peoples were able to build common values and strengthen their unity which is based on mutual consent.
Assured of their equal rights with other nations and nationalities of Ethiopia, the people of Somali regional state have been endeavoring to strengthen the democratic unity, he said. This has helped lay a firm foundation for Ethiopia’s unity.
According to ERTA, the Premier said the region which suffered from lack of peace and stability during the past regimes is now enjoying the fruits of development and democracy. He urged states to make use of their constitutional rights to develop their respective regions.
