Ababa, May 16, 2008 (WIC) - Revolutionary democratic forces have accomplished exemplary deeds establishing a state based on popular will and mutual respect among nations and nationalities, South Ethiopia Peoples' Democratic Movement (SEPDM) Chairman underlined. The Chairman Hailemariam Desalegn, told Aiyotawi Democracy SEPDM magazine, that inhabitants of the state have registered a number of political, economic and social gains by jointly working for their common interests.
Remarkable achievements have been registered in the state owing to the agriculture-led industrial development strategy as well as urban development and good governance packages over the past 15 years, the Chairman elaborated.
Activities carried out in the areas of health, education, road facilities, as well as other social service sectors are encouraging, Hailemariam indicated.
The chairman further pledged that Movement would further enhance the development and good governance endeavors and strive for the growth of the state in the years ahead.
The Movement also attaches due attention for realization of the target set to enable the country stand among middle-income countries in the coming 20 years; he said adding that all the activities would be backed by the active participation the public.
The 15th founding anniversary of the Movement which would jointly be celebrated with May 20 is an occasion the movement and its members pledge to further enhance development and good governance efforts with renewed commitment.
The Movement has reportedly over one million members, it was learnt.
