Addis Ababa, May 5 (WIC) – Oppositions of the Eritrean government expressed readiness to jointly struggle and topple the dictatorial regime so as to put in place a peaceful and democratic order in that country.
Eritrean Democratic Alliance Conference Coordinating Committee Chairman, Ahmed Tirki, said at the founding conference that it would be possible to end the detentions and other anti-democratic acts of the dictatorial regime and ensure democratic order only when opposition forces stand in unison against the system.
The opposition forces have reached consensus that differences among themselves could not block efforts to remove the regime jointly, Ahmed indicated, adding that the conference is a defeat to those who have been disseminating a fabricated story that Eritrean opposition forces could not fight jointly.
The people of Eritrea put trust on the opposition forces with a view to emancipating themselves from atrocities and repressions perpetrated by the regime; he further indicated adding that they would set up alliance to meet the demands of the public.
The conference has been summoned in line with the agreement reached among the opposition forces last January, 2008 to set up a union, it was pointed out.
The conference is expected to endorse regulations, in which Eritrea after the demise of the dictatorial regime as well as the democratic alliance would be governed, the chairman further added.
Members of the Eritrean community and civic associations residing in the U.S, Europe, Australia and the Sudan on the occasion presented their support to the conference capitalizing that there is no option other than joint struggle in order to form a government that lives peacefully with its neighbors, it was pointed out.
Leaders of the opposition parties, religious leaders, representatives of civic associations, members of the Sanna Forum Secretariat are in attendance of the conference, it was learnt.
