Natives of the Gambella State residing in North America
have shown interest to participate in the development
activities of the country in general and the state in
particular, the state Deputy Chief Administrator
disclosed. The Deputy Administrator, Guaner Yer, told WIC that nations of the state expressed their interest to take part in the development activities in the country during discussions held during his recent visit to that country leading a delegation comprising senior officials of the state.
Briefings were given to the nationals on the development, good governance and democratization process underway in the state, Guaner said adding that they pledged to invest in their capital in their country.
Over 600 natives of the state living in Minnesota, Minneapolis and Mandamus states and its environs took part in the discussion and they were provided with information that would help to rectify wrongly held misconceptions about their country, according to him.
The visit the first of its kind for the state is part of the plan to encourage natives of the state residing in overseas to take part in the nation building process, he stated, adding that the nationals were briefed on the security in the state as well as investment options and incentives.
Head of the state Diaspora Affairs Office, Uguta Addisu, said on his part said that the visit laid a firm foundation in helping natives of the state think about their country by providing them the necessary information.
