Customs branch office collects over 489 mln birr revenue

Adama, March 31, 2008 (WIC) - The Nazareth Special Branch Office of the Ethiopian Customs Authority has reportedly collected more than 489 million birr revenue from import and export produces during the past eight months.

Office Manager Amogne Tagele told WIC that most of the revenue was collected from tax on machineries, electric and road construction materials, wood and wood products, ready-made cloths imported and exported via port of Djibouti.

The amount of money collected in the period exceeded that of same period last year by 291.7 million birr, according to the manager.

He attributed the increase to the efficient service provided by the office and the growth of the national economy.

The office is exerting efforts to collect over 501.5 million birr revenue by the end of the budget year, it was indicated.
