Meles receives, holds talks with members of American Congress

Addis , March 29, 2008  - Prime Minister Meles Zenawi on Friday received and held talks with the 19-member delegation of the American Congress led by Senator Jomes Inhofe.

The delegation has conferred with Prime Minister Meles on ways of scaling up the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Senator Inhofe said the two sides have conferred on issues like anti-terrorism, education and health particularly HIV/AIDS.

Member of the delegation, Senator Michael Enzi said the efforts being made by Premier Meles and First Lady Azeb Mesfin to fight HIV/AIDS is appreciable.

He said that the Premier and his wife have been showing good administration on Millennium Development Goals, education and other sectors.

Meles on his part said that the bilateral relation with the US is focuses on important sectors. The cooperation and support is worth appreciation, a Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Members of the delegation said America's assistance to Ethiopia would continue.

HIV/AIDS prevention and medicine supply takes the primary place among the sectors the two countries are cooperating.
