Addis Ababa, March 24, 2008 (WIC) - Rival political parties contesting in West Shoa Zone of Oromia State for the upcoming elections introduced their programs to residents of Ambo town yesterday.
At a discussion forum organized by Inter Africa Group in the town, Oromo National Congress (ONC), Oromo People's Democratic Organization (OPDO) and Oromo Peoples Congress (OPC) presented their programs through their representatives.
Speaking on the occasion, West Shoa Zone ONC Chairman Bekele Dana said his party would strongly work to alleviate the developmental problems raised by the residents.
If elected, ONC would consolidate the ongoing development activities in collaboration with the government,he said, adding that the forum plays important role in bridging differences among parties and helps them to work for the growth and development of the country.
Zone OPDO Chairman, Yohannes Mitiku, on his part said OPDO has been working to bring about development, good governance and democracy in the zone and it would consolidate its efforts if elected.
He also commended Inter Africa Group for organizing the forum as it enables political parties to reach consensus for development.
OPC representative and Member of the House of Peoples Representative, Dejene Tafa, said his party would work to solve problems of good governance and high cost of living raised by the residents.
The representatives of the parties finally responded to questions raised by the residents.
