Consumers cooperatives under formation in capital city

Addis Ababa, March 22, 2008 (WIC) - Establishing consumers cooperatives is a key solution towards averting the skyrocketing cost of living, coordinating committee chairperson of a cooperative in Bole Sub-city said. Speaking at the establishment of a consumer cooperative in kebele 04/06/07 of Bole Sub–city today, coordinating committee chairperson Desalegn Geresu said the establishment of consumers cooperatives has a significant contribution towards supplying quality produce to the consumers. He further said cooperatives have immense contribution to create well structured market and stabilize the high cost of living in the city. Kebele 04/06/07 Chief Executive, Yirgalem Kumelit, on his part said the establishment of consumers cooperative when the government has been taking measures against greedy merchants and brokers is timely. He also pledged to provide all the necessary support for the cooperative.
