Particleboard factory built with 220 mln birr goes operational

Mekelle, March 21, 2008 (WIC) -  A particleboard factory built in Maychew town by Dejena Endowment with 220 million birr has begun production.

Factory Manager Abreha Girmay told WIC that the factory launched pilot production last month.

He said the factory which rests on 6,000 square meters granted by the town administration will fully begin producing eight to 40 millimeters thick particleboards beginning next month.

The factory would produce 40,000 square meters of particleboards in a day, the manager added.

The factory would by next year begin exporting its produce, he disclosed.

Upon going fully operational, the factory would create permanent and casual jobs to 330 people, it was learnt.
