Diredawa University executing 47mln birr projects to double annual enrollment capacity

Diredawa, March 14 (WIC) - The Diredawa University has reportedly been undertaking construction and expansion works with 47 million birr in order to double its annual enrollment capacity.

University Acting President, Dr. Wogayehu Bekele, told WIC that the activities are being carried out on the premises of the main campus.

The projects to be executed in two phases were launched last month, he said, adding that the enrollment capacity of the university would double upon the completion of the projects.

Dormitories, laboratories, workshops, offices and other service delivery buildings are being built and expanded under the projects, according to the acting president.

On completion of the projects in three years, the annual enrollment capacity of the university would jump to 3,000, he said.

The university could also accommodate a total of 10,000 students, a huge boost to the current 2,500, Dr. Wogayehu elaborated.
