Nation to construct 5,000 kms railway line |

Jimma, March 4 (WIC) – Ministry of Transport and Communications said 5,000 kms railway line would be built to solve cargo and public transportation problems in the country. Speaking at consultative conference organized in Jimma town to consolidate regional transportation and communications sector, Transport and Communications Minister Juneydi Sado stated that the federal government has been working with due attention to strengthen the sector. The minister disclosed that a railway corporation, which is the first of its kind to the country, has been established recently and it would enable to solve the socio-economic and political problems of the country. The study for the construction of the railway line has been finalized, he said, adding that the launching of the construction would create thousands of jobs. The construction of the railway line would be finalized within the coming five years and it is expected to cost more than 100 million USD, it was learnt. |
