Silk textile factory to be built with over 51mln birr in Tigray State

Addis Ababa, January 19 (WIC) – Jose Silk Textile Factory, the first of its kind in Africa, would reportedly be built with over 51 million birr in Tigray State.
Factory Coordinating Director Joseph Mateka Chicco told WIC that preparations are underway to build the factory in the state capital Mekele. The construction of the factory would begin soon and it will begin production within a year, he said. Upon going operational, the silk textile factory will create 500 permanent jobs out of whom 75 percent are going to be female, according to Chicco. Several farmers would also benefit by supplying silk raw materials to the factory, he indicated. |
