UEDP–Medhin to field over 5,000 candidates in two zones of Amhara State

Bahirdar, January 4, 2008 (WIC) – United Ethiopian Democratic Party–Medhin will field over 5,000 candidates in Bahirdar Special Zone and West Gojjam Zone of Amhara State , the party branch office disclosed.
Office Head, Captain Yayehyirad Zeleke, told WIC today that the party has been making preparations to effectively utilize the democratic forum by respecting and enforcing the respect of law and the constitution. The candidates would contest to fill the vacant seats in the House of Peoples Representatives and State Council as well as town administrations, woreda and kebele councils, he said, adding that UEDP–Medhin would exert maximum effort to make the election fair and democratic. Of the candidates, two would contest for the House of Peoples Representatives, 1,700 for woreda and town councils and the remaining for kebele councils, Captain Yayehyirad elaborated. |
