NEBE says 25 political parties fielded candidates across country
Addis Ababa, February 13 (WIC) – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said 25 political parties have fielded candidates across the country.
Chief Executive of NEBE Secretariat, Tesfaye Mengesha, told WIC today that the parties have fielded their candidates in all states except Somali.
According to him, seven political parties in Oromia State, six in SNNP State, four in Amhara State, three in Afar State have fielded their candidates.
He further said eight parties in Addis Ababa and three in Diredawa Administration have fielded candidates.
Tigray Peoples Liberation Front/EPRDF and Gambella Peoples United Democratic Movement have also fielded candidates in Tigray and Gambella states respectively, the head added.
More than four million candidates are expected to contest in the upcoming elections, he indicated.
