Harrar town allocates over 113 mln birr for infrastructural projects

Harrar, April 20, 2008 (WIC) - Infrastructural projects that improve the socio-economic conditions of Harrar town would be carried out with over 113 million birr in the coming three years, according to the municipality.

Municipality Manager Arif Mohammed told WIC today that the projects will provide efficient and comprehensive service for residents.

The projects include micro and small-scale enterprises that help alleviate unemployment, he said.

The construction of alley roads, upgrading and expansion of slaughterhouse as well as waste disposal places would also be carried out, according to the manager.

Besides, preparations that meet the growing demand of land for investment will be conducted and various capacity building works would be carried out, he added.

Upon going fully operational within the coming three years, the projects would benefit over 100,000 inhabitants of the town, it was indicated.

The manager also recalled that development works which created jobs to over 1,000 youth were executed in the town during the past nine months.
