Harrar, April 15, 2008 (WIC) - Entrepreneurs with more than 173.3 million birr capital have been licensed in Harrari State during the past nine months, according to the state investment office.
Office Head Abduselam Abdosh told WIC today that the 64 licensed local and foreign investors are expected to engage in industry, real estate development, agriculture, health, education, hotel, service delivery and construction sectors.
Upon going operational, the projects would create more than 2,000 jobs, he said.
Among the projects licensed include mining,marble and brick production,poultry and dairy development, it was indicated.
Some six of the investors are foreigners and 12 of them natives of the state residing abroad,the rest being local entrepreneurs.
The office is striving to make the licensing procedure short so as to enable investors begin work in a short period, he indicated.
