ERA building asphalt roads with 600mln birr in Somali State

Jijjiga, November 30, 2007 (WIC) – The Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) has reportedly launched the construction of asphalt road projects in Somali State with 600 million birr.
Head of the Shikosh-Kebridehar Road Project, Masresha Genzebe, told WIC that the project includes construction of 113.5 kilometers of asphalt road and five bridges.
The authority plans to finalize the project by building up to 38 kilometers of the road every year, he said, adding that the plan is likely to succeed as the project makes use of new machineries.
Head of the Kebridehar-Denan Asphalt Road Project, Fasil Tekle said on his part construction of the 95 kilometers project was launched a month ago and will include construction of six large and medium bridges. Construction of the road project will be finalized within two years and half, he added. The two road projects have created 1,000 permanent and 3,000 casual jobs, the head indicated. |
