Eritrea forging Somali Shilling, says Mayor of Mogadishu

Addis Ababa,, November 24, 2007 (WIC) - The mayor of Mogadishu, Mohammed Teri, accused the Eritrean government of forging the Somali shilling and holding it responsible for the security problems in Somalia, particularly in Mogadishu, according to Jimma Times.

The mayor said the Eritrean government supports the Somali opposition through printing fake Somali shillings and providing them with arms to abort efforts to stabilize the country.

He described the Eritrean authorities as an axis of evil in the region of the Horn of Africa.

Teri said his administration is setting up plans to strengthen security measures in the capital.
